Stephen Mitchell has written and translated over twenty books, bringing into English lucid, beautiful translations of Yehuda Amichai, Homer, Pablo Neruda, Rainer Maria Rilke, and such foundational texts as the Tao Te Ching, Gilgamesh, and Genesis, among others. In honor of his linguistic and poetic acumen, Green Linden Press awards the annual Stephen Mitchell Translation Prize for an unpublished book-length manuscript in any literary genre translated from any language into English. It is an aim of the Series to publish books that not only entertain but contribute to our understanding of the human experience.
