Lover in the Pacific
                                                                        —Amber Cecile Brodie

You are seawater without warning.
The undertow of your hands,
a crashing tide tipped with foam.
I swell with the current.

The undertow of your hands
nestle against and inside me.
I swell with the current,
each wave beating on my back.

Nestle against and inside me.
Toss me again like a rogue wave,
each one beating on my back.
Until I am adrift with no bearing,

toss me like a rogue wave,
thrash with the rising and falling
until I am adrift with no bearing.
I contort and swirl and

thrash with the rising and falling,
a crashing tide tipped with foam.
I contort and swirl and
you are seawater without warning.
