David Trinidad

Deleted Scene

I never thought
I’d ever feel
the need to
write about this.

New York, late
eighties or early
nineties. I was
in my late thirties
or early forties.

A nearly empty
car on the E train.

Sitting directly
across from me:

a young man
who must have
been in his mid
to late twenties.

Really the most
beautiful boy.

He looked at
me and smiled.

And me?

I blushed
(as if beauty
could read
your mind)
and hung my
head, in an
attempt to hide
my red face.

Again, I never
dreamed I’d
ever feel the
need to write
about this.

At my stop,
I rushed off.
